Welcome Job Seekers

Job Hunting is No Fun
Are you looking for a job?  There are lots of reasons you could be.  New graduate from high school or from college, maybe even from graduate school.  You may have been laid off or fired from a previous job.  Maybe your family moved and now you want to find work in the new locale.  Perhaps you are looking for an additional job on top of your present employment.  (Always too much month left at the end of the money.)  Or just unhappy or bored with what you are currently doing.

Sometimes when a company has a planned closure or a large layoff scheduled, it will set aside funds to help its employees obtain schooling in preparation for employment in a different field.  If so, plan to take advantage of that offer.  Do some research as to what certain industries pay, whether that type of job is available locally and, more importantly, decide if that is something you want to spend at least 40 hours of your life per week doing.  There are aptitude tests available to help you find what type of things interest you or that you may be good at doing.  Take the time to get one done.

Now, for the people left in the other categories above, it is a little more difficult.  The first step for all, however, is to determine if you really want to work for someone else.  Some people like the security of going to a place everyday, doing A,B &C and getting paid X amount of dollars every week or two.  For those who have invested large sums of money and time, that question may be much harder.  If you started a program 6 or 8 or 10 years ago with stars in your eyes, do they still twinkle with the prospect of doing the thing you were educated for?
Yeah, you might make a lot of money doing that thing, yet will it consume all your free time?

Forty hours a week, usually 50 weeks per year, often with mandatory overtime, a commute to and from the job (possibly with lots of traffic to maneuver through), told when you can eat, take a break, and maybe even when those two weeks of vacation will be taken.  All for X amount of dollars every week or so.  For those of you who are happy with that, God Bless You.

A lot of people put up with that scenario because they are comfortable.  The money isn’t bad.  They can work an extra shift and make those big overtime bucks.  They complain about hating the job, the boss, the new additional work  tasks they are expected to do, the lack of support – you name it.  They hate it, yet they are comfortable with their paycheck.  The true job: Just Over Broke.

There are lots of avenues to pursue where you can be your own boss.  There are many local chapters of Small Business Association (SBA) that provide free or low cost courses on being a business owner, an entrepreneur.  Courses to enhance your computer skills, for accounting practices, explore legal matters, set up a business structure, learn how to market, and much more.
Have you checked out youtube?  There are videos on almost any topic so you can  learn how to do that same thing by watching and doing what they do.  There is the awesome power of Google and Yahoo! Answers.  As the saying goes, “If other people can do it, so can I”.  (Hence the power of testimonials in ads and sales pitches.)  The big thing is – it is true.  They have done it, and so can you.

The power of the mind is significant.  “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, either way you’re right.”  ~Henry Ford    The Laws of the Universe are powerful and they always work.  Take the Law of Gravity.  Whether or not you believe in it, it works.  Just proclaim that the Law of Gravity does not work, and take a step off your roof.  The other laws work as well, whether or not you believe in them.

Get perfectly clear in your mind what it is you want.  To be successful in your new Dog Pooper Scooper business or make $10000 per month selling calcium from the protected coral reefs.  Know what you want and let the Law of Attraction bring it to you.  Don’t just keep it in your head.  Write it down.  Look at it.  Read it out loud.   Put some emotion into it.  Say it like you mean it.  Everything in the present tense:  I am successful, not I will be successful.

While that does not necessarily bring in money today, that process needs to be in motion today.  And find a part time job to help pay the bills for now.  They are always hiring at Wendy’s or McDonalds.  It may not be glamorous; just remember it is temporary and a necessary stepping stone to get you where you really want to be.  When you work full time, it takes a lot of dedication to your beliefs and dreams to achieve them.  You must be willing to put in long hours.  (1-3 hours after you already worked 8 or 12 hours that day.)  You must be willing to sacrifice time with the family or time watching your favorite sports team play or time just watching your favorite television show.  If you can afford to work part time at a job, then do so.  Put the extra time and energy into creating your own lifestyle.  Cause it ain’t the money you really want; it’s the lifestyle to do what you want, when you want, where you want and with whom you want.  Think about it.
